Romney's O.C. Visit Expected to Draw Protestors, Donors

Romney is scheduled to attend a pricy Newport Beach fundraiser today, one day after garnering an endorsement from Nancy Reagan.

Republican presidential frontrunner Mitt Romney is expected to draw supporters and protestors alike during a fundraising visit to Orange County today.

The Atlas Political Action Committee 6 p.m. fundraiser at Newport Beach’s Balboa Bay Club comes a day after Romney landed an endorsement from conservative icon Nancy Reagan.

Former first lady Nancy Reagan on Thursday endorsed former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney for president, saying her late husband, President Ronald Reagan, "would have liked Governor Romney's business background and his strong principles, and I have to say I do too."

Romney is scheduled to speak today at a cocktail reception at the Balboa Bay Club, with tickets priced at $1,000 and $2,500.

A group of activists have threatened to dress up as billionaires trying to "crash" Romney's party to protest his candidacy.

“We want to draw attention to the dangers of unchecked Wall Street power to the 99%, and Romney, with his plans to cut capital gains tax and privatize Social Security, is a perfect target,” said organizer Christian Larsen, 29, in a statement.

Reagan met Thursday at her Bel Air home with Romney and his wife, Ann.

"I believe Mitt Romney has the experience and leadership skills that our country so desperately needs, and I look forward to seeing him elected president in November," she said during the visit.

Following the meeting with Reagan, Romney attended a $50,000-per-couple campaign fundraiser at the nearby Beverly Crest mansion of billionaire Anthony Pritzker, Fox11 reported.

The fundraiser was closed to reporters, as are most fundraisers for non- incumbent presidential candidates.

I...T - "Because they don't have money to create that job. Why? " Well actually, they are sitting on the largest pile of cash in the history of S&P record keeping. So here is a better question: Since major US Companies are sitting on the largest pile of cash in modern American history, why are companies not hiring? Research and come back with answers. Thank you I...T

Dang Bo Bo - Wanted I...T to do the homework. Truth is they DO have mountains of cash. It is fear and uncertainty. I think that is a result of Pres Obama's style of not leading and waiting until the last second to do something "brokered" behind closed doors. He really needs to be out front on issues, but he has not ever been a manager until becoming President, so it is what it is. Their exists empirical evidence that the "recovery" that started in late 2009 to early 2010 stopped dead in it's tracts in March 2010 when the ACA passed (O'care). The economy has been in a flu like state ever since and the "Summer of Recover" in 2010 didn't happen. We'll never really know if the Stimulus Plan would have worked independent of the passage of ACA, but I rather doubt it because the wrong stuff was being shoveled if you catch my drift.

"... We'll never really know if the Stimulus Plan would have worked independent of the passage of ACA, but I rather doubt it because the wrong stuff was being shoveled if you catch my drift." Truth is at in no time in history has any country spent itself out of recession, so I have my doubts that the so-called "stimulus" stimulated anything but secured votes for politicians. If it looks "shovel-ready". and smells shovel-ready", it must be....

Funny. If you keep shoveling money to companies it will work for a time. How long do you keep shoveling OPM to them? (Other people's money) Did not need Bo or Bernanke to do that. Anyone on this site could of done that. Matter of fact they are about to do it again. The companies could of been rescued on the cheap but it was easier to use OPM.
