Allen Elementary Takes Academic Pentathalon Title
The school won its own division as well as the overall title among 77 Orange County schools.
Allen Elementary School won first place in the premiere division 1 competition and captured the prestigious overall title at the 2011 Orange County Sixth Grade Academic Pentathlon.
Awards were presented May 24 and 26 at Heritage Forum in Anaheim. The competition was held May 7 at Westminster High School. Allen amassed the highest point total among all 77 teams in the Academic Pentathlon’s seven divisions. Within their top-ranked division, the Allen School students outscored eight teams representing six Orange County public and private schools.
Academic Pentathlon teams compete in five subjects: mathematics, essay, literature, social science, and science in the challenging Super Quiz competition. Awards are given for individual performance and for overall team by division.
The Academic Pentathlon is sponsored by the Orange County Department of Education.
