Batter Up: Angels Announce Preliminary 2013 Schedule

Yet to be finalized, the new season will include more interleague play spread throughout the season for the first time.

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim today announced their preliminary schedule for the 2013 season, including the first interleague opening day game April 1 at Cincinnati.

The shift of the Houston Astros to the American League creating two 15-team leagues will cause interleague play to be spread throughout the season for the first time.

The Angels will play their home opener April 9 against the Oakland Athletics at Angel Stadium.

The 81-game home schedule includes 10 interleague games -- May 29-30 against the Los Angeles Dodgers, June 4-5 against the Chicago Cubs, June 21-23 against the Pittsburgh Pirates and July 2-4 against the St. Louis Cardinals.

The Angels' road schedule includes games May 27-28 against the Dodgers at Dodger Stadium.

The official schedule will be announced after the conclusion of the 2012 season.

Each team will play 19 games against divisional opponents, six or seven games against non-divisional league opponents and 20 interleague games.
