Boys Soccer Coach Hired Away From Los Amigos

Juan Becerra, who guided the Lobos to consecutive Garden Grove League championships, will take over boys soccer team at Costa Mesa High.

Juan Becerra, who recently guided Los Amigos High's boys soccer team to back-to-back Garden Grove League titles, has been hired to coach Costa Mesa High's boys team, according to a text he sent OC Varsity. He replaces Alex Cordoba, who had been on the job three seasons.

Becerra led the Lobos to the CIF Southern Section Division 5 quarterfinals last season after they suffered a first-round upset in 2009. He coached at Los Amigos for five years.

“My goal is to make the program at Costa Mesa one of the best in Orange County,” Becerra said in a press release issued by his new employer.
