Barons start with razzle dazzle and closes with a flourish in Ray Fenton's debut as coach.

Ray Fenton did a terrific job coaching at Cypress, and then he left after the 2009 season. Now he's back, and he's trying to return Fountain Valley to its glory days. He's off to a good start.

Key Stats: Seven different players scored for Fountain Valley, and four scores were from 66 yards or more.

Pivotal Moment: Foothill took a 28-21 lead with 72 seconds left in the first half, but Fountain Valley tied the score on a 66-yard pass from Travis Hood to Noah Rivard with no time remaining. The Barons went into halftime even, and Foothill didn’t score again.

Notes: Travis Hood (111 yards passing, 48 rushing) passed for three touchdowns, of 66, 11 and 15 yards for Fountain Valley. …  Teammate Scott Schultz passed for 152 yards and two touchdowns, of 87 and 11 yards. … The 87-yarder to Jacob Church was on a double-reverse flea flicker on the Barons’ first play from scrimmage. … Fountain Valley’s other big plays were a 73-yard run by Isaiah Davis, who finished with 10 carries for 121 yards, and Jacob Rodriguez’s 71-yard interception return; Rodriguez, whose TD had tied the score at 21-21, had two interceptions. ... Are things different under Fenton? Foothill won last year's game, 28-14.
