Pet-friendly events in the OC for August.

Summer is coming to a close but these delightful and worthwhile pet events will heat up your August.

Aug. 2: Fountain Valley Movie Night, Fountain Valley Recreation Center and Sports Park, 5 p.m., "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs." Bring your family and pets to the first movie during National Night Out. Games, demonstrations, balloons and booths.

Aug. 4: Laguna Beach’s First Thursdays Artwalk. First Thursday of every month from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Dog-friendly galleries offer a festive evening.

Aug. 11: Fullerton’s Dog Days of Summer. Dog talent show and competition hosted by the Fullerton Museum Center. The pet-friendly event will be held at the outdoor Fullerton Market from 4 to 8:30 p.m.

Aug. 12: Fountain Valley Movie Night, 6:30 p.m., Fountain Valley Recreation Center and Sports Park, "Despicable Me." Bring your pets and kids for a movie with neighbors and friends.

Aug. 13: Canine Angel Service Team’s fourth annual Walk with the Angels. Dog walk and family fun day. Booths, raffles, contests and food from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. CAST raises and trains dogs for children with special needs. Central Park, 6630 Lakeview Drive, Huntington Beach.

Aug. 19: Fountain Valley Movie Night, 6:30, "How to Train Your Dragon." This week's movie for you and your furry friend is showing at Los Alamos Park next to the library as part of the city’s Movies in the Park summer program.

Aug. 21: Sixth Annual Pet Fair in the Park, sponsored by the So Cal Animal Response Team. (aka Surf City Animal Response Team), 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Disaster preparedness for pets, microchipping, agility demos and more. Event is at Long Beach Marine Stadium Park, 5255 Paoli Way, Long Beach.

Aug. 26: San Clemente Art Walk, downtown San Clemente festival with live music and local artists. 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., Avenida Del Mar.  Pets are welcome.

Aug. 26: Fountain Valley Movie Night, 6:30 p.m., "Jumanji," Fountain Valley Recreation and Sports Park.

Aug. 28: American Cancer Society Bark for Life, a canine event to fight cancer. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Noncompetitive walk for dogs and their humans to raise funds for the American Cancer Society. Contests, games, and demonstrations are included in this action-packed day. Twinkle Park, 970 Arlington Ave., Costa Mesa.
