Los Amigos Takes on Corona del Mar in Patch Bowl 2011

The game will be decided on the field, but in the end, everyone wins.

Breathtaking runs. Bone-crushing hits. Heart-warming community service. It's Patch Bowl 2011!

This Friday at Newport Harbor High, Los Amigos (Fountain Valley) will take on Corona del Mar in the CIF quarterfinals, and more important, in this season's first and only playoff matchup featuring Patch against Patch.

Both teams are on a roll and looking to move one step closer to Angels Stadium and a shot at a CIF crown. But no matter what happens on the field, one of these two cities will get the services of one very willing volunteer for a day.

In the time-honored tradition of big-game wagers between mayors, Fountain Valley Patch Editor Justin Petruccelli and Corona del Mar Patch Editor Nisha Gutierrez have agreed that the editor of the losing team will spend a day helping out a worthy cause in the winning city. Where they spend that day is up to you.

If you're a member of a community service organization in either Corona del Mar of Fountain Valley, send us your ideas. The winning idea from the winning city will get the services of the losing editor (not that anyone loses on this deal) for a day.
