Updated: Six Injured When Vehicle Crashes Into Building

The Ellis Avenue crash occurred during the lunch hour. Original report was that five were taken to the hospital. The driver is 76.

Six people were injured Monday when a car crashed into a building housing a tutoring business in Fountain Valley.

The crash occurred about 12:25 p.m. at 9985 Ellis Ave., a building that houses multiple businesses, including the Tutoring Club and a next-door smoke shop, a Fountain Valley police dispatcher said.

Two victims were trapped under the 2011 Buick sedan that slammed into the building, Fountain Valley police Sgt. Kurt Ulrich said.

Six people were hurt, including the driver, Peter Hauk, 76, of Huntington Beach, who suffered minor injuries, Ulrich said.

Two 15-year-old boys and a 67-year-old woman also suffered minor injuries. The two trapped under the car were a 20-year-old man who suffered serious injuries and a 32-year-old man whose injuries were considered life-threatening, Ulrich said.

The cause of the crash was under investigation.
