Make The Most Of Your New Year's Eve Locally!

Every type of activity from roller skating and bowling to dancing is available in town for a safe and fun New Year's Eve.

2012 is around the corner, and depending on your plans for New Year's Eve fun, there are many options to choose from locally.

For our homebound friends, consider watching the City of Fountain Valley's 2011 Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony on FVTV (on Time Warner Cable, Verizon and AT&T) at 8:30am and 6:30pm now through Dec. 31, and ring in the new year safely from your couch!

Our party animal friends probably already know about New Year's Bash with Parkaimoon, with epic tunes that you can dance your way into 2012. Add in a complimentary champagne toast at midnight and be sure to make reservations and come in early for dinner. Live entertainment is from 9:30 p.m. until 1:30 a.m., and there's no cover.

has $25 all night skate on New Year's Eve from 9 p.m. until 7 a.m. Yes, you heard right. You can roller skate from 9 p.m. until dawn. Families are welcome and the DJ will keep the skate music lively all night long, with a countdown skate at midnight.

Also family-friendly is , which will ring in the new year with New Year's Eve glow-in-the-dark cosmic bowling from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. For $30 per hour, up to six people can rent a lane. The cosmic music and light show are designed to create a nightclub atmosphere, but it is kid-friendly and includes a bar and snack area.

For the after-party snackers, restaurant will have their New Year's celebration wit traditional Japanese Toshi-Koshi noodles. The restaurant is serving ramen, udon and soba noodles from 11:45 p.m. until 5 a.m. It's the perfect late-night snack as you wind your way home on the first day of 2012.

And lastly, should you need a safe ride home, and you do not have a designated driver, consider calling AAA. They do a free “Tipsy Tow” on New Year's Eve from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. within five miles. Call 800-222-4357 (AAA-HELP) and tell the AAA operator, “I need a Tipsy Tow,” and a truck will be on its way. You do not even have to be a AAA member to use this service!
