Costa Mesa Man Arrested After Lengthy Police Pursuit

The chase started in Fountain Valley and ended in Dana Point.

A Costa Mesa man wanted on several outstanding warrants was arrested early Sunday morning after leading Fountain Valley Police on a chase that started in Fountain Valley and ended at an apartment complex in Dana Point.

According to police, Pedro B. Jimenez, 31, was seen in his car near the corner of Harbor Blvd. and Heil Avenue in Fountain Valley. Officer Joseph Zane attempted a routine traffic stop, but Jimenez fled, leading to a pursuit that continued south on Harbor Blvd., and onto the  southbound 405. The pursuit eventually ended in Dana Point, where Jimenez exited his vehicle and fled on foot. Zane deployed his police service dog Benny, who assisted in the apprehension of Jimenez, police said.

Jimenez was treated at a local hospital and later booked at Orange County Jail on suspicion of felony evading, possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest, and a series of outstanding warrants for robbery and other offenses. Orange County Sheriff’s deputies and an Anaheim Police helicopter assisted Fountain Valley Officers.
