Fountain Valley PD Set to Run Leg of Special Olympics Torch Run

The local leg will make it was through town to Huntington Beach before the torch continues on to Long Beach.

Officers from the Fountain Valley Police Department will run their leg of the Special Olympics Torch Run as the torch makes its way to Long Beach for Saturday's Summer Games.

Officers will take the torch from Westminster Police officers at the interesection of Magnolia Street and Edinger Avenue about 10:55 a.m. They will carry the torch through Fountain Valley to Huntington Beach, where they will hand it off again at the corner of Talbert Avenue and Beach Boulevard. From there, the torch will make its way to Long Beach, where it will be used to light the Flame of Hope at the openign ceremonies of the Summer Games.

The Special Olympics opening ceremonies will take place at California State University at Long Beach on Saturday, and the games will continue for three days. More than 1,100 athletes are expected to participate.
