Multiple Thefts from Unlocked Vehicles Reported

Police briefs from around Fountain Valley.

Theft from a vehicle was reported on Red River Circle, June 20 at 3:19 p.m. when unknown suspect(s) gained entry into an unlocked vehicle and fled undetected with $4,200 worth of property.

A man reported identity theft from Spencer Avenue, June 20 at 9:49 a.m. when he discovered that his credit card had been used to make unauthorized transactions, totaling $218.78. The suspect is believed to be a cashier from Restaurant Depot.

Grand theft was reported from a business on Talbert Avenue, June 19 at 9:27 p.m. when unknown suspect(s) gained entry and ransacked the office before fleeing undetected with $12,900 worth of property and causing $2,000 worth of damage to gun safes, electrical panels, alarm systems, doors and furniture.

Ten propane tanks worth $550 were reported stolen from Walgreen’s on Harbor Boulevard and Edinger Avenue, June 19 at 10:55 a.m. Unknown suspect(s) used an unknown tool to cut open a metal cage that held the tanks, located on the south side of the business wall, and fled undetected with the merchandise.

Two related vehicle break-ins were reported from Swordfish Avenue at 8:27 a.m. and from Santa Anita Circle at 7:35 a.m. Unknown suspect(s) entered into the unlocked vehicles in both incidences and ransacked the interiors before fleeing undetected. The only item reported stolen from the two crime scenes was a $250 MP3 player from Swordfish Avenue.

Two vehicle break-ins were reported from two adjacent residences on Callens Circle, June 19 at 6:37 a.m. In both incidences, unknown suspect(s) entered the unlocked vehicles and removed a combined total of $2,150 worth of property from the two reporting parties, before fleeing undetected. Police investigators linked the crimes by identifying the same method of operation.

A woman reported a missing debit card on June 18 at 4:18 p.m., when she discovered her account had been used to make $136.88 worth of purchases at Walmart and Target. The crime was believed to have occurred at a party in the city of Westminster.

Graffiti was reported on Edinger Avenue near Euclid Street, June 13 at 4:27 p.m. A witness saw an unknown suspect used a black spray paint to write “SAWK” on an electrical box. Damage was estimated at $100.

Theft from a vehicle was reported from Fremont Street, June 13 at 6:38 a.m. Unknown suspect(s) gained entry into the vehicle by smashing the passenger side window, causing $700 worth of damage, and fleeing undetected with a laptop, checks and a backpack valued at $1,180.

Arrest
A 34-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence on Harbor Boulevard and Heil Avenue, July 1 at 1:02 a.m. and was released on a citation.
