UPDATE: Man with Multiple Stab Wounds in Stable Condition

The man's girlfriend, Lauren Beatriz Pettit, is in Orange County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder.

A 45-year-old woman who told Fountain Valley police she repeatedly stabbed her boyfriend because he wanted to die is behind bars today.

Lauren Beatriz Pettit is being held in Orange County Jail in lieu of $500,000 bail, according to jail records. She was booked on suspicion of attempted murder, Fountain Valley police said.

Police were sent to a home in the 9300 block of Clover Court at 7:37 p.m. Monday on reports of a stabbing.

The 33-year-old victim, whose name police withheld, suffered several wounds and was taken to a hospital, where he underwent surgery, Fountain Valley police Sgt. Kurt Ulrich said.

'His condition at this point is stable,'' Ulrich said. ``Thankfully, it
doesn't look like he will die from his injuries.''
