Police Wednesday released images taken off a surveillance video of a Santa Ana gas station holdup in hopes of generating tips from the public on the suspect's identity.

The armed robber held up the Mobil gas station at 100 W. MacArthur Blvd., just west of the 55 freeway, about 11:45 p.m. Sunday, said Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna.

The suspect is described as a white man about 25 to 30 years old, 5-foot-10 to 6 feet tall and 180-200 pounds, with short brown straight hair and a light beard. He was wearing a "distinctive paper-boy cap" and was armed with a black, semi- automatic pistol, Bertagna said.
