Suspected Gang Violence Reported

Police briefs from around Fountain Valley.

A woman reported witnessing a subject being attacked by six to seven men on Newhope Street and Heil Avenue near Los Amigos High School on March 11 at 3 p.m. The suspects were described as having shaved heads and tattoos, and wore black and brown clothing. The incident may be gang related and the suspects were last seen fleeing the scene in an Astro van.

Vehicle vandalism was reported on Aquamarine Circle near Mount Collien Street on March 13 at 5:59 p.m. The owner of the vehicle had been out of town when a neighbor reported two broken rear windows. No property was reported missing.

Theft from a red Cadillac Escalade was reported in the parking of Fry’s Electronics on Kalama River Avenue near Euclid Street on March 13 at 3:26 p.m. The thief gained entry into the vehicle after inserting a tool into the driver’s key hole and fled with $687.92 worth of property. After reviewing surveillance videos, officials were unable to identify any suspects.

A fight resulting in a need for medical attention was reported on the basketball courts of Recreation Center on Brookhurst Street near Heil Avenue on March 13 at 1:51 p.m. Two people were detained.

A man reported $1,030 worth of missing property from a Chevy Tahoe on Talbert Avenue and Brookhurst Street near LA Fitness on March 11 at 8:31 p.m. Someone gained entry by inserting an unknown tool in the key hole and removed a back pack, duffle bag and a fanny pack, containing identification, credit cards and books. The identification card was recovered in El Monte by a transient.

A woman reported $1,400 worth of property missing from her residence on Azalea Avenue near Aspen Street on March 11 at 6:37 p.m. Someone gained entry from an unlocked window and fled undetected. Officials were unable to recover any physical evidence.

A woman standing at the Brookhurst Street and Talbert Avenue intersection on  March 11 reported that a man driving a newer-model navy blue Mazda 3 hatchback had pulled up next to her and had rolled down his window to get her attention. When the woman looked into the vehicle, the man had his hand on his exposed genitals. The suspect sped off. No plate number was reported.

Arrests
A 31-year-old man was arrested on a felony warrant on Los Gatos Street and Edinger Avenue on March 15 at 2:09 a.m. and was taken into custody at Orange County Jail.

A 45-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of driving under a suspended license on Brookhurst Street and Talbert Avenue on March 14 at 8:21 p.m. and was released on a citation.

A 27-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing prescription drugs without proper documentation on Ellis Avenue and Magnolia Street on March 13 at 6:21 p.m. and was released on a citation.

A 54-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance on La Alameda Avenue and Brookhurst Street on March 12 at 12:57 a.m. and was taken into custody at Orange County Jail.

A 37-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing drug paraphernalia with intent to sell on Edinger Avenue and Ward Street on March 9 at 12:26 p.m. and was released on a citation.
