Suspected 'Wrong-Way Bandit' Set for Thursday Court Appearance

Jose Luis Arciga is accused of robbing five Orange County banks, including Centennial Bank in Fountain Valley.

A Santa Ana man accused of robbing five Orange County banks, , is scheduled for a pretrial hearing Thursday at the West Justice Center in Westminster.

Jose Luis Arciga, 40, who police say is the "Wrong-Way Bandit," was arrested in March by Garden Grove police and  of second-degree robbery and three counts of attempted second-degree robbery, with sentence-enhancing gun use allegations.

The robber got the "Wrong Way" nickname because in one of the holdups, he started walking out the door he came in, realized his mistake and then made a U-turn to go out an exit door, according to FBI Special Agent Chris Gicking.

Arciga is being held at the Orange County Jail in lieu of $250,000 bail.
