City Council Election Filing Period Begins Monday

Two Fountain Valley council seats are up for grabs this November.

Fountain Valley residents planning to run for City Council this year will get their chance starting Monday.

On July 16, the city will begin accepting nomination papers for two council seats up for grabs in the Nov. 6 election.

Councilman Steve Nagel and Councilman Larry Crandall are the current incumbents.

The deadline to file paperwork is 5 p.m. Aug. 10 at the city clerk’s office in City Hall, 10200 Slater Ave.

To be eligible, a candidate must be a U.S. citizen, at least 18 years of age by Election Day, a registered voter and a resident of the city.

Council members are elected for four-year terms.

If an eligible incumbent does not file by the deadline, the filing period — for non-incumbent candidates only — will be extended to Aug. 15 at 5 p.m.
