Fountain Valley to Participate in National Moment of Remembrance for 9/11

The 1-minute ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. Pacific time.

Fountain Valley will be one of several Southern California cities participating in a national moment of rememberance to honor the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

Participating cities and counties will encourage residents, businesses, airports, railroads and sports teams to take part in a one-minute moment of remembrance at 10 a.m. Pacific time Sept. 11, highlighted by tribute signals such as ringing bells or sounding sirens.

"It is a fitting tribute that Los Angeles, our nation's second-largest city, will participate in this important demonstration of our national unity surrounding 9/11,'' said Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif. "From the East Coast to the West Coast, Americans across the country are united in our commitment to honor those who sacrificed on that day and will never give up the fight for freedom and justice.''

The Moment of Remembrance was established through a Senate resolution sponsored by Sen. Frank Lautenberg, D-N.J.

"As sirens and bells ring out across the country, every American should stop and remember for one minute the thousands of innocent lives lost on 9/11 and take pride in the strength and perseverance of the American people,'' Lautenberg said.
